It's quite common when a person decides to jump on a health kick or fitness regime, to purchase a local public gym membership. With the boost in motivation and fancy new gym pass, you have every intention to hit those fitness classes and machines.

This high in motivation sticks around for a month or two and then things take a dip. Things come up in your diary and it means you can't stick to the gym classes and lets face it there is not much consequence if you miss them. So you decide to get yourself in the gym area instead. Come 5pm after work its packed! You can hardly get on the machines, there's a big scary man grunting in the mirrors to your left and an Instagram fashion model to your right.
The whole thing a little overwhelming. But a space becomes free on the 'arm' machine so you give it a try. Not much idea what your doing but you do a few reps and make a B-line back to the treadmill. We are now 2 months in to the fitness kick and we are not seeing any progress. Not feeling stronger, not toning up and have not really learned anything about the gym either. For the most part, we just copied the next person and hope for the best. The classes got you a sweat on but you never really saw any progression and nobody told you if you were doing the exercise correctly?

So now the gym membership card gets places in the bed side cabinet. Like an old receipt, it gathers dust. You continue to pay month after month but never find the 'time' or motivation to get back there. But because it's only £30-£50 you don't find the courage to cancel it, just incase.
